Taryn Farrell, MPH

Research Associate

Taryn M. Farrell serves as Research Associate for the South Carolina Institute of Medicine and Public Health (IMPH). Ms. Farrell will support the development and execution of IMPH policy informing activities and evaluation efforts to advance IMPH's mission.

Before joining IMPH, Ms. Farrell worked as a Graduate Research Assistant for a Healthy People Health Carolinas coalition funded by The Duke Endowment, LiveWell Kershaw. Ms. Farrell was responsible for convening community members and partners from local government, health care, business, education and non-profit sectors to develop and implement their most recent 2023 Community Health Improvement Plan using the Results-Based Accountability framework. Through this work she was able to bridge her passion for research and coalition-based work, closing gaps between science and the community. Ms. Farrell has experience integrating lived experience and mixed methods research to promote sustainable policy, systems and environmental change. While pursuing her undergraduate degree, she worked in ambulatory care for Cooper University Health Care where she gained experience with various care delivery models through clinical and administrative lenses.

Taryn earned her MPH from the University of South Carolina and her BS from Rowan University. She will begin pursuing her PhD in Health Services Policy and Management at the University of South Carolina in Fall 2024 and will support research efforts at the Rural and Minority Health Research Center.
