CHARLESTON, S.C. – President Donald Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill Act could impact maternal healthcare, which is already fragile in South Carolina.

The state received an “F” from March of Dimes in preterm labor for the third year in a row and is currently ranked 44th out of 50 in the U.S.

On top of that, South Carolina is also ranked 40th in infant mortality.

Due to statistics like these, South Carolina was one of the 15 states selected to receive a grant from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to implement the Transforming Maternal Model in January.
