Financing and Affordability Committee
The Financing and Affordability committee explored both public and private financing of long-term services and supports (LTSS). The committee considered such issues as the following: implications of how state dollars are allocated, the importance of collaboration among agencies that are involved in long-term care, the need to invest in services for individuals who do not meet financial or medical eligibility requirements for current services and the opportunities and challenges related to the use of managed LTSS models. This committee also considered affordability issues from the perspective of individuals and their families, including private pay concerns (e.g., long-term care insurance) and financial challenges faced by consumers due to their LTSS needs. The committee discussed ways to improve consumer education efforts to encourage planning for LTSS needs, including educating and engaging the business community as a partner in these efforts.
