State Forum to Advance Health Systems Transformation

The National Network of Public Health Institutes (NNPHI) awarded IMPH funding to convene stakeholders to develop strategies to bridge public health and health care. Supported by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, this award will allow IMPH to convene stakeholders in a state forum to explore tangible strategies for fostering collaboration between these two sectors.

IMPH is focusing on the health care workforce to explore how South Carolina can adapt the health care workforce to be more aligned with the goal of population health improvement. As our country shifts to a health care model that values good health outcomes and away from the current sick care model, a different workforce is needed. In the age of health care reform, it is imperative that the health care workforce shift from the current illness-focused model to one centered on prevention and health promotion.
