The Access to Care committee focused on making recommendations to ensure that individuals and families are able to access appropriate services and supports that meet their needs and preferences. The committee considered how the availability and quality of the following resources impact whether consumers can connect to other needed services or care: information and referral resources, case management and care coordination services, independent living training/tools and transportation. Members also discussed how specific training for all types of healthcare professionals in geriatrics and in working with people with disabilities impacts access to care.
