Shaena Rouse Joins IMPH as SCale Down Program Manager

Shaena Rouse, MPH joins IMPH as the Program Manager for the SCale Down Initiative

IMPH is pleased to announce that Shaena Rouse will serve as the program manager of the SCale Down Initiative. Ms. Rouse has five years of experience in the field of public health, obesity prevention and partnership development. Ms. Rouse is familiar with the planning, implementation and evaluation of public health programs and building relationships with diverse partners across the state. In her career, she has assisted with the implementation of the South Carolina Community Transformation Grant, which aimed to prevent chronic diseases such as cancer, diabetes and heart disease.

Immediately prior to joining IMPH, Ms. Rouse served as a coordinator with University of South Carolina’s Healthy Carolina, one of the nation’s leading healthy campus initiatives. She was responsible for managing the Healthy Carolina Farmers Market, implementing assessments to determine the campus community health behaviors, overseeing the Lactation Support Policy and a variety of other wellness initiatives. She enjoys working in the public health field to create a culture of health at different entities such as worksites, schools, communities and in health care.

A graduate of Clemson University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences and the Arnold School of Public Health at the University of South Carolina with a Master of Public Health degree, Ms. Rouse also enjoys making an impact in the lives of students embarking on college for the first time.  She is an instructor with the University 101 program and mentors and tutors student athletes at the University of South Carolina.

In her role as program manager, Ms. Rouse will oversee the ongoing development, implementation and coordination of the South Carolina Obesity Action Plan through the SCale Down Initiative.
