SCPHI Announces New Funding and Expanded Mission
The South Carolina Public Health Institute is pleased to announce that The Duke Endowment has awarded continued funding to support the work of Affordable Care Act Implementation Initiative. This renewed funding is a result of the collective effort of all who are involved in this Initiative. SCPHI leadership and staff thank the participating organizations and individuals involved in the Initiative for their support of this important and ongoing endeavor.
In addition, The Duke Endowment has provided longer-term funding to further develop the organizational capacity and mission of SCPHI by linking the existing work of the Public Health Institute with the vision to establish an Institute of Medicine in South Carolina. The expanded organization will be known as the South Carolina Institute of Medicine and Public Health. This enterprise will be built on the foundation of SCPHI and will ultimately enable a broader scope and greater impact.
Over the next few months SCPHI will share more information about this exciting development.
The Duke Endowment, in Charlotte, N.C., seeks to fulfill the legacy of James B. Duke by enriching lives and communities in the Carolinas through higher education, health care, rural churches and children’s services. Since its inception in 1924, the Endowment has awarded nearly $2.8 billion in grants.
