ACA Implementation Initiative Workgroup Report on Health Insurance Exchange in SC

On October 19, 2011, the Health Insurance Exchange and Enrollment & Consumer Navigation Workgroups of the South Carolina Affordable Care Act Implementation Initiative submitted a summary report for consideration of the Competitiveness and Transparency Sub-Committee and informational benefit of all members of the broader South Carolina State Health Planning Committee.

The report summarizes the work of more than 70 individuals who have worked over the past 14 months to understand the complexities of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and its implications for South Carolina.  Focused on improving the health of South Carolinians, participants in these workgroups came from across the state and reflect a wide variety of health-related organizations, state agencies, and citizens who volunteered their time and expertise to assist in the development of recommendations for the establishment of a Health Insurance Exchange, one of the key components of the legislation. Appendix A identifies organizations that participated on the workgroups and in the development of the recommendations summarized in the report.
