Mr. Richard Wilkerson

Chairman and President (retired), Michelin North America

Richard (Dick) Wilkerson spent 31 years with Michelin in manufacturing and personnel positions in the United States, France and Scotland.  He served as Chairman and President of Michelin North America from June 2008 to December 2011.  Prior to this role, he was Executive Vice President of Human Resources for Michelin, having worked in that position since 2006 where he was also responsible for the Environment, Health and Safety department.  Other roles at Michelin include acting as Chief Operating Officer for the company’s North American Specialty Tire Product Lines and leading Michelin’s Earthmover tire business in North America and the Earthmover original equipment tire business worldwide.

Mr. Wilkerson is a past chairman of the Executive Committee of the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce.  Previously, he served on the Clemson University President’s Advisory Board and the University of South Carolina National Advisory Council.  He currently is a member of the Board of Directors of the Yellowstone Park Foundation and Board of Trustees of the South Carolina Association of Independent Colleges and Universities.

He is active in the Greenville, S.C. community.  He is a current member of the Boards of Directors for the Community Foundation of Greenville (vice-chair), Greenville Health System, the Greenville Area Development Corporation (vice-chair) and the Institute for Child Success in addition to chairing the Habitat for Humanity CEO Build in Greenville County for the past two years.  Previously, Mr. Wilkerson served as the 2012 chairman of the UnitedWay of Greenville County Board, chair of the United Way of Greenville County fundraising campaign and on the boards of the Greenville Urban League, the Chamber of Commerce, the University Center and the Greenville Symphony.

Mr. Wilkerson holds a civil engineering degree from Duke University, as well as an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree from the College of Charleston, and an Honorary Doctor of Business Administration degree from Norwich University.
