An HIA is a combination of procedures, methods, and tools that judges the potential and effects of a policy, plan, or project on the health of a population and the effects within the population.

Focus on South Carolina

  • The South Carolina Institute of Medicine and Public Health (IMPH), in partnership with the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC), brought together stakeholders to discuss and develop an informational brief entitled Considering Sodium Intake Reduction Strategies in South Carolina. The purpose of the brief is to increase awareness about the role of sodium intake in population health and encourage sodium reduction strategies in South Carolina.

The South Carolina Institute of Medicine and Public Health is a non-profit corporation organized for educational and scientific purposes and focused on improving the health status of South Carolinians through work in the areas of policy, prevention and leadership.
